Community Ownership
Bóthar works through local community groups. These groups vary immensely in size and form. From church groups to a group of neighbours who have come together to support each other and seek solutions to common problems they all face.
Villages and communities that wish to take part in the Bóthar programme are asked to form a committee specifically dealing with the Bóthar project. That committee must then decide who the neediest families in their community are and who should receive animals first.
In this way the community has ownership of the project from the beginning.
