Valentine's Appeal 2021 - Nepal Dairy Cow Project
Amongst the stunning natural beauty of a land that gave us Mount Everest, exists a poverty that would move anyone to tears…
Please support Bóthar’s Valentine’s Appeal and help a struggling Nepalese family lift themselves out of poverty.
Namaste: a Nepalese greeting meaning the light within me bows to light within you.
Respecting fellow human beings.
We are all born into our respective lives. We don’t get to choose who we are born to or where we live.
For some, life is full of privilege. For others, poverty.
More often than not, never the twain will meet, only co-exist.
But, human nature is a force to be reckoned with and even though you may have never met someone, even though you are separated by thousands of miles, that does not mean you cannot help. That is the power of kindness.
The power of you.
Bóthar has been working on various successful projects in Nepal for the past 20 years. Nepal is a country filled with beauty that emanates through the land and its people.
This year, Bóthar is working with our project partners, Heifer Nepal, to develop a dairy cow project in the Sindhuli district, Kamalamai Municipality. It is a long-term project that will help many communities through local herd improvement, the provision of dairy cows and the Bóthar pass-on initiative.
Bóthar will begin the long-term project by improving the quality of the local herd by sending Artificial Insemination (AI) straws. By using top quality Irish bull semen, an increase in milk yields will follow.
As is a requirement for all Bóthar projects, successful participants will need to prepare to receive their animal by undergoing a training programme, planting trees, preparing soil and growing fodder. As we know from our established projects, once the cows milk and there is regular surplus income, families can buy additional foodstuffs and livestock, plant seeds to grow vegetables, becoming more sustainable in the long-run.
As a supporter of Bóthar, if you can help, I would ask you to support this project this Valentine’s Day. The love you could give to a family thousands of miles away will have life-changing consequences.

Will you come on this journey with us?
I hope you will.
Much love this Valentine’s Day.
