Sperrins Trek a Success
Another successful annual trek has come and gone on us it is hard to believe how fast our year travels in! It was so lovely to see so many old and new faces walking with us this year. We at Bóthar would like to thank everyone who made the trip to the Sperrins so unique and special. Our trek this year took us to Sawel, the highest mountain in Derry and Tyrone (the peak is shared by the two counties) and covered Robbers Table and the beautiful Banagher Damn in Co. Derry.
Thankfully the rain only came down on us on the first day but we did not let it dampen our spirits, especially not with a roaring open fire and some beautiful songs, storytelling and a few tunes in Gortin with some of our walkers even rounding up the day with a waltz in their walking boots! The spirit of the Bóthar supporters is something that really impresses us each year on the trek, no matter how high the hill or far the walk, our trekkers always have a friendly smile and encouraging word for each other and for staff!
One of our new trekkers left this note for us,
“Thank you for a great weekend, the welcome to a new face, the support and company along the routes, the organisation and accommodation and the entertainment. A lovely introduction to Bóthar and to hill walking. Best of luck with all the plans for the rest of the year.”
Many of our trekkers have already signing up for Co. Mayo trek next year, the dates are 14th – 16th August for more details phone our Sligo office on +353-71-912-0100.
