Farm Accident Remembrance Service
On the 22nd June 2012 following an unfortunate farm accident on the 19th June, my father Liam Rohan passed away. A careful farmer always and I would never have remembered him to receive stitches or even break a bone in all his years farming, so it goes to show that no matter how careful you are, accidents can happen. We have donated a heifer in his memory to Bothar this year.
Since Dad’s passing we have come to realise that there is no support to help remember those people killed in farm accidents. In the past 10 years there have been 200 people killed in farm and agriculture related accidents. Therefore on the 29-June of June this year, we have organised an ecumenical service to remember them, to be held in the Most Holy Rosary church in Abbeyleix at 1.30pm. All are welcome to attend, anyone who has lost a loved one, a friend, a neighbour in an accident, or if you have survived an accident you are very welcome to attend on the day. We would be very grateful if you could let anyone you know that has been affected by a farm accident about the remembrance service.
